FAQ

  • Absolutely. The base package price would be 3x + GST. So for example, the Quick & Classic would price in at 30k (instead of 10K) and + GST.

  • I do couple shoots. For pricing, it’s basically 1.5x the price of any of my three packages.

I don’t do pre-wedding shoots per se. I usually leave this sort of thing to wedding photographers because they have specialty packages for these services that include wedding coverage.

  • Yes. I’m always open to commercial gigs. I have a day rate page with more details. Get in touch and let me know how I can help you.

  • I don’t do TFP shoots or collaborations at this time.

  • I use a Sony full-frame mirrorless system with prime lenses.

  • Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Luminar Neo primarily.

  • I do not offer refunds. That being said, I don’t ask for full payment up front so you can book a session with me with a partial booking fee that’s non-refundable. Full payment must be made before I start taking pictures.

  • I will work with you to ensure that you get the best possible pictures. I will show you the images as we progress in the portrait session so that we’re on the same page.

As for the retouching, I do offer one free redo if you’re not happy with the post-processing. This is where communication is vital. We will discuss in our consultation what your expectations are for the final look. If for any reason I don’t think I can accommodate you, I’ll let you know before you book a session.

  • No. But I may be able to hire somebody and provide you with their quote.

  • No. Each package also is for a duration of 1, 2, and 4 hours. Regardless of our session time, I will take many photos, probably several dozen. This way, you’ll have plenty of wonderful images to choose from. And if you end up wanting more, the option to purchase additional images is there for you.

  • After I edit your images, I’ll send you a link to a gallery where you can choose your favorites. Then I’ll send you high-resolution, full-sized JPEG files.

  • I have a few tips for better-quality images that will stand the test of time.

    1. Wardrobe Choices: Select outfits that reflect your personality and the purpose of the shoot. Bring several options, including both casual and formal attire, to vary your look. Consider solid colors and simple patterns to avoid distraction from your face.

    2. Fit and Comfort: Ensure your clothing fits well and is comfortable for a range of poses. Avoid overly tight or loose garments that might not photograph well.

    3. Accessories and Props: Choose accessories that complement your outfits, such as jewelry, hats, or scarves. Props related to your hobbies or profession can add a personal touch.

    4. Grooming: Fresh haircuts, clean nails, and neat facial hair are essential. Schedule haircuts at least a week before the session to allow for natural regrowth.

    5. Makeup: Opt for natural, polished makeup. Bring touch-up supplies for lipstick, powder, and other essentials. Consider professional makeup services for a flawless look.

    6. Skin Care: Hydrate and moisturize your skin leading up to the session to ensure a healthy glow. Avoid sunburns or tanning bed use right before your shoot.

    7. Rest: Get a good night's sleep before your session to avoid tired eyes and lack of energy.

    8. Hydration and Snacks: Stay hydrated and bring light snacks, especially for longer sessions, to maintain your energy levels.

    9. Arrival Time: Plan to arrive a few minutes early to relax and discuss any last-minute details with me. Also, if you’re late there’s a chance that I may have prior appointments and I’d have to cancel our session and you’d lose out on your non-refundable deposit. Please be on time.

    10. Communication: Share your expectations, ideas, and any concerns with me beforehand. Discuss the shoot's purpose, preferred styles, and any specific shots you desire.

    11. Attitude: Come with a positive attitude and an open mind. The best portraits come from a place of relaxation and enjoyment.

    12. Payment and Paperwork: Ensure any required payments or paperwork, such as model releases or contracts, are completed before the session.

  • AI is now at the core of most photo editing software suites. The latest versions of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom both rely on AI for several of their tools, most notably in their masking capabilities.

If you’re someone who has a strong stance against AI, then I’ll caution you up front that even if there are no AI elements in your photos, there’s likely something AI going on behind the scenes in the software. Artificial Intelligence is here to stay and it plays a vital part in my workflow.

If you’re choosing a portrait package that includes AI backgrounds, then I’ll be upfront and state that I use Photoshop’s Generative AI functions for creating backgrounds, wardrobe, masking, and sometimes for retouching. I also make use of Midjourney AI if I have to create something from scratch that Photoshop can’t handle.

  • I can’t guarantee this at all with the current technology, at least as of today! But that’s changing fast.

The thing with AI is that you can tell it to create general scenes but you’ll rarely get exactly what you want. But more often than not, I’m surprised by what AI comes up with unprompted. That’s to say that while you probably can’t tell AI to recreate your favorite beach spot, it can create elements of that beach spot.

Results are mixed. I may be able to create backgrounds for you that you love. Or you may not like them so much or at all. This is to be expected at present. For someone like me who works with AI quite a bit, I often spend a lot of time tweaking details if I’m trying for a certain effect. And I don’t always succeed. Nobody does. It’s a process.

So let’s set expectations for AI backgrounds that you may request. I will try my best to get exactly what you want but I can’t guarantee your 100% satisfaction in this regard. But if you’re looking for creative backgrounds that will make your portraits stand apart, I can state with confidence that using Artificial Intelligence is the next best thing to actually being on location.

If you want to learn about the current state of the art, check YouTube for what Photoshop’s Generative AI can do as well as what Midjourney is producing. If you explore these images and what people are saying about them and the process of creating them, it will go a long way for understanding and setting your expectations when it comes to AI. Keep in mind that the most important subject of your portrait is YOU, not the background.

A Terms & Conditions and Model Release forms will be provided at the time of booking an appointment. Signed copies are required when full payment is made.
