Dissecting Diamond Dog

Fine art by Craig Boehman.

I've only done a few gifs. This one was pretty simple. The image itself is a composite of several images, including the dog, trees, and the strange structure that looks like the stone from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Instead of talking about the specifics, I thought I'd just show you the original images, starting with the finished version above.

Finished composite image.

Trees on the structure.

The structure.

And our dog.

The two images I didn't include were of specific textures, which I didn't want to search through the dozens I've collected to include here. Basically, they're black and white textures and patterns. Where one is most visible is in the main brownish background (blended in with blending mode). Everything else was editing work in Photoshop.

I'll be including more of these basic dissections of final images in the future. It's fun for me to document how I did it before I forget. It's also great to be able to share these images with you to show you exactly what I was working with in the beginning stages before the actual compositing began.

I'd love to hear from you below with any questions or comments.
