An Unlikely Christmas Message From Yours Truly

A holiday message from Craig Boehman.

Merry Christmas to all my friends and family around the world. I can say the words, even though I’m an atheist. There are few things that grate on me more than political correctness, a notion that we can’t call something by its actual name because it might offend someone. This is poppycock.

Merry Christmas! Not, “happy holidays”. What holidays were you referring to? I for one am all for recognizing Winter Solstice, also known as Yalda and Yule in some circles. If I mean to tell someone, “Happy Winter Solstice,” then I will say just that. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with lumping all the holidays into one hodgepodge of happy dough. But this too is a bit poppycock to me. It’s like telling someone, “have nice days” instead of “have a nice day.” One runs the risk of being comically optimistic.

I digress. The following quote is from the late and great George Carlin. And it just so happens to be my Christmas wish for all of us: “May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house.”
